Our Story

How We Met

We matched on Bumble back in 2019 after Wayne had used his only super like on her to get her attention. Our first date was at Kid Kyoto. Finding each other in the car park where we first came face to face was an adventure in itself—we had parked at opposite ends and tried honking our horns like some weird game of “Marco Polo with cars.” My first thought: “Wow, she’s stunning.” Her first thought: “Wow, he’s… short.” Luckily, she normally doesn’t go for short guys—but apparently, being ridiculously funny can override height requirements. And the rest, as they say, is history.

The Proposal

On April 30th, 2024, Wayne carried a secret all the way from Sydney to Japan — a shiny ring hidden in his luggage. The grand plan was to propose under the castle at Tokyo Disneyland, a true fairytale moment… until he saw just how many people were there and how quickly nerves can kick in.
So the ring stayed hidden, traveling with us from one adventure to the next, waiting for the perfect moment. That moment finally came in Hakone, in a private onsen surrounded by mountains and mist. Wayne got down on one knee, popped the question — and Jaycie said no, but i'll keep the ring anyway with a big smirk on her face. Eventually after many shots of sake, she said yes.
Mickey Mouse might have missed the show, but we think the hot springs made for a much more memorable proposal. 💍🗻✨
